Oldbury lost their 100% record at the weekend with a convincing win by Blackpole Saints. Oldbury had the first chance to score when Whitehead who had scored 8 goals in 2 games was thwated by the Saints keeper in a one on one. Oldbury were then caught out by a vicious long range shot which flew into the goal and was quickly followed by 2 more. More misery was to follow for Oldbury already without Baylis, Nichols and Knat due to injury they also lost Millward which left ten players versues eleven. Saints scored four more in the second half and could have been more if it hadn't been for Clark in the Oldbury goal who despite conceeding 7 was Oldbury's m.o.m.

Mercian League Under 13 Division One 11-10-09
Oldbury lost out by the odd goal in a seven goal thriller at the weekend. The game started with both sides playing good attacking football with Falcons taking the lead after 15 mins when the Oldbury defence failed to clear a ball into the box. Minutes later they fell further behind when the Falcons striker cut in from the 18 yard box and was allowed to score from 6 yards out. Oldbury were the team to grow in confidence and tested the Falcons keeper severaal times before the prolific Adam Whitehead made it two one. With Oldbury trying for an equaliser before half time they once more left space at the back which was exploited by the Falcons who scored again just before the break.
The second half saw the Tigers team spirit roar into action with a pulsating all out attack which pushed the Falcons onto the backfoot, limiting them to sporadic attacks. The Falcons keeper made some outstanding saves thwarting the Tigers attack several times but Tigers got their just rewards when a superb strike by Jack Stratford made it three two. Once more Oldbury were punished when Falcons floated a free kick over the defence and with the initial shot cleared off the line they poked the ball home to make it four two. A stirring final ten minutes saw Adam Whitehead get Oldburys third goal, his tenth in four games, and claims for a penalty turnerd away when a shot was charged down in the six yard box which clearly struck the defenders hands and the ref deemed ball to hand.
There was more drama in the final two minutes when Jazz Millward rasped a shot in from the edge of the box into the roof of the net only to have the goal ruled out for offside much to the disbelief of players and supporters who thought the Tigers efforts had earned a point.
Oldburys M.o.M. award goes to the whole team for their combined performance.
